Field Trip: Learning by doing helps at St. Felix Centre

Our Food and Beverage classes in the Service Excellence for Business program went to help at St. Felix Centre, a non-profit community. "Be Humble, Help and Learn" is the message to summarize the amazing experience I had. By giving, you receive more than you think. Our class of SEB students helped to prepare a dinner for people in need at St. Felix Centre. Located downtown at 25 Augusta Ave, this establishment is dedicated to providing compassionate service. They have two Meal Programs: the Lunch Program from Monday through Friday (9:00 AM to 1:30 PM) and the Dinner Program from Monday through [...]

Field Trip: The Hazelton Hotel by Marine Gas

Our Front Desk Services classes of the Service Excellence for Business program went to visit the 5 star Hazelton Hotel in Toronto's ritzy Yorkville neighborhood. Discovering this luxurious establishment was an incredible honour. My classmates agreed: “It is amazing; I realized how lucky we are to visit this place. I would never have come here if it wasn't for the ILAC International College. It gave us this opportunity” Emelyne gushed. She smiled from ear to ear throughout the whole tour. I too fell under its glamorous spell the moment I walked up to its classy facade, but the interior made me speechless- such splendor. [...]

Easter Day: May your Easter be egg-cellent! by Marine Gas

This April at ILAC International College, students from the Service Excellence for Business program celebrated Easter with a Bunny surprise. “It is a really good idea, it makes my Easter happier. I feel more at home”, confessed Julia from Brazil, her hands full of chocolate. She received the treats from ILAC International College. Kristina and Laura, the college’s Student Services representatives in charge of making students happy, distributed some delicious candy and chocolate carefully wrapped in a bunny shaped paper. I saw learners and teachers looked at the treats with craving. Ayaka from Japan showed me her empty chocolate egg. She had [...]

Field Trip: Be the actor of your career! by Marine Gas

This March, the Event Planning and Food and Beverage classes of the Service Excellence for Business program went on a Field Trip to TIFF Bell Lightbox. Meeting organizers of TIFF, Toronto International Film Festival, visiting the core of the famous restaurant Luma, and discovering the event space Malaparte, it was an incredible learning experience! Are you an Art lover? Film? Food? Events? TIFF Bell Lightbox is the main place to go. Most students, like me, had never been inside this cultural centre. We were pretty surprised by the immensity and beauty of the place. It occupies an entire city block in [...]

Farewell Party: Goodbye for now! by Marine Gas

An inevitable day finally came, the last day of school for the students who took the 48-week Service Excellence for Business program. Our farewell party occurred at The Quail: A Firkin Pub, located on Yonge Street. A profound, emotional moment… Almost the whole class was sitting around the table. Some of the students were already looking at the billiards. However after our last exam, we were starving. London flags appeared on the menu. Blake Howe, our Leadership teacher, reserved the place. A British pub in Canada invaded by international students. How cosmopolitan it is! Farewell could sound like a sad occasion, [...]

Appreciation Dinner: After theory, comes practice! by Marine Gas

In March, our class of Event Planning in Toronto held an Appreciation Dinner with the help of Ruby Sohi, instructor at ILAC International College. Planning, preparing, and hosting the dinner was part of our class assignment. Believe it or not, it was the best assignment ever! Room 401 at the ILAC International College turned into a reception place for one evening. Saint Patrick’s Day was the theme. All of the decoration was made around this Irish culture. Glasses, cutlery, and napkins were green. Little gold shamrocks, the plant symbol of Ireland, were spread on the centre of the table. Even the [...]
